To be eligible for employment with ONI you must be an Australian Citizen. Given the sensitive nature of ONI's work, there are also a number of special requirements which prospective candidates should be aware of:
- Preferred candidates are required to obtain and then maintain a national security clearance.
- The security clearance process includes intrusive background, financial and psychological review, and is an integral component of the recruitment process.
- Security clearance suitability is reviewed at intervals during employment with ONI.
- Staff are paid an allowance in recognition of these requirements.
ONI requires that all staff abide by the APS code of conduct, including complying with all applicable Australian laws.
